Gearing Up for BPM 2016

Every now and then a festival slips under my radar, and usually for good reasons: it’s a well-kept secret, it’s intimate, it’s in a unique location. The BPM festival combines all these characteristics in the best way. And now it’s on my radar.

For the uninitiated, The BPM Festival is an annual ten day and night electronic music festival, founded by Craig Pettigrew and Philip Pulitano, taking place in the beautiful Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Imagine a festival with the lineup power of Tomorrowland or Movement intersecting with the intimacy of a beach resort in Mexico. That’s BPM. It won ‘International Festival’ from the DJ Awards in Ibiza in 2013 and a nomination by International Dance Music Awards for “Best Music Event” in 2014.

BPM is now on its ninth year, taking place January 8th through 17th, 2016. And the lineup just keeps getting better. BPM is shaping up to be techno and house heaven, bringing the likes of Adam Beyer and Jamie Jones to the sand dancefloors. This is only just phase one:

This year’s BPM also marks the launch of Hector’s new label, VL, taking place on Sunday, January 17th at Canibal Royal. Hector, a native of Mexico, will be joined by Chad Andrew, David Gtronic, Hector, Hito, Javier Carballo, Pinto, Randall M, and Sece for the launch celebration.
